The morning after the important victory of Zrinjsko against Sweden’s Häcken with a result of 2:1 in the fourth round match of the UEFA Conference League played on Thursday evening in Mostar, Plemić’s coach Igor Štimac published a message which he pointed out was particularly touching.
Štimac thanked everyone for the “sea of congratulations and wonderful messages”.
Last night my “nobles” made me cry, and here it is and the morning started with a teary eye. I will share with you one of the countless messages with which my inbox is filled and a special big thank you to everyone who was with us last night in such weather!Štimac wrote.
The coach of Zrinjsko shared the message on his Facebook profile, and we we transmit in its entirety:
Dear boss
You who proudly carry and defend the Croatian identity of HŠK Zrinjsko, know this – last night not only did the players show you the character of the team, but they revealed to you the very soul of this nation. They showed you what it means the heart of Herzegovinaa heart that was never broken, never conquered and never ready to kneel.
It is a heart that beats with the same rhythm as in the days of our kings, in the times of Herceg Stjepan Kosača, in the centuries when defended the bare right to name, religion, language and survival. Through persecutions, wars, burned hearths and silent suffering, this people remained upright because they knew who they were and what they lived for.
HŠK Zrinjski Mostar is not just a club – it is living witness of existence of a nation. Every victory, every reversal, every heartbeat on that field carries within it the prayer of ancestors and the tears of mothers who believed that the sacrifice was never in vain.
That’s why we ask you: continue to walk proudly along our Zrinjski. Protect his identity, because by protecting him, you are also protecting us. You guard the thread that connects past and future, blood and stone, sacrifice and pride.
We are Croats from Herzegovina. A people who went through darkness but never lost the light. A people from whom they tried to take everything but never succeeded.
