Napoli could soon receive a big reinforcement from England. The Italian club is in the final stages of negotiations with Raheem Sterling, who is currently out of contract and ready for a new challenge outside the Premier League.
The experienced winger recently terminated cooperation with Chelsea by mutual agreement, and according to the British media, one of the key motives for coming to Napoli would be the possibility of playing again with Kevin De Bruyne, with whom he shared the dressing room in Manchester City for years.
Sterling, who is 31, is reportedly willing to accept a significantly lower salary in order to revitalize his career and play at a high level in European football again.
It was the financial requirements that previously represented an obstacle – Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna had previously pointed out that Sterling’s expectations were too high, which is why the loan option was not realized last summer.
However, circumstances have changed in the meantime, and the new conditions could open the door to a deal that would bring Napoli a big name and great experience.
