The delegation of the Government and Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton, led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and Chairman Ćazim Huskić, on the occasion of November 25 – the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, laid flowers and paid tribute at the memorial ossuary to fallen NOB participants and the central memorial to martyrs and fallen fighters “Stone Sleeper” in Zenica.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pivić said that November 25 is one of the most significant dates in the past of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because on this day in 1943, at the First Session of ZAVNOBIH in Mrkonjić City, the necessity of the common political and state life of the people in this area was confirmed, as well as the continuity of the state within the borders in which Bosnia and Herzegovina was internationally recognized in 1992.
– Not long after the international recognition, Bosnia and Herzegovina was attacked, and in defense against aggression and fighting for the greatest civilizational values, many BiH patriots gave their lives. That is why today we pay the highest tribute to the martyrs and fallen fighters, who gave their lives fighting under the flag of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to the participants of the NOB who also fought for the greatest human and civilizational values - equality, freedom and homeland – said Prime Minister Pivić.
He emphasized that these civilizational values are the heritage of BiH. society and that they are a confirmation “that under fascist pressure we have shown the equality of all citizens and the diversity that we cherish and that we will certainly cherish in the future.”
– This is a confirmation that our future generations will witness our borders, regardless of all the obstructions and policies that are present in BiH, as well as geostrategic opportunities, but it is also a confirmation of our statehood of BiH, a long-standing history and values that should adorn the whole world – said Prime Minister Pivić.
Earlier in the day, flowers were laid at the “Papirna” and “Stone Sleeper” memorials by a delegation of institutions from the Zenica-Doboj Canton, which included Minister for Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection Adnan Šabani, Minister for Justice and Administration Nebojša Nikolić and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Goran Bulajić.
The central event on the occasion of November 25 – the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a formal academy that will be held tonight at 7:00 PM in the Bosnian National Theater in Zenica, and is organized by the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
