The Federal Minister of the Environment and Tourism of Nasih Pozder and the UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Renaud Meyer signed two significant agreements with the total value in Sarajevo 1.115.000 KMthus continues perennial successful cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The first agreement refers to Third phase of the Via Dinarica projectwhich is financed by the Italian Development Cooperation Agency (AICS) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci). Via Dinarica has been one of the most successful examples of sustainable tourism in the region, connecting the natural and cultural values of the Dinaric Mountain Chain, with the strengthening of local communities and environmental protection.
The second agreement is part of a five-year portfolio “Support for the acceleration of green transition in BiH”funded by Sweden. The focus of the portfolio is in decarbonization, improving waste management, nature and biodiversity protection, and strengthening institutional capacities for sustainable development.
The total value of realized and new activities implemented through this cooperation is 2,620,180 km.
Minister Pozder pointed out the importance of international support and domestic capacities for green transition:
– Projects we spend refer to key issues: nature conservation, better quality of life and strengthening climate resistance. I am proud of the preparation of professional explanation for the proclamation of the protected area of Prenj – said Minister.
Renaud Meyer emphasized that these projects bring concrete benefits:
– These agreements confirm UNDP’s commitment to, in partnership with the Ministry, we invest in solutions that contribute to sustainable development. Via Dinarica and the portfolio of green transitions are examples of how nature and sustainable development can be the foundation of local and national progress – Meyer said.
By signing these agreements, BiH continues the path to a sustainable future, through concrete measures in the field of environment, tourism and climate resistance.
