In a quarter of a century, Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to build only 150 kilometers of highway. This means that we built an average of six kilometers per year, less than other countries build in a few months.
Of particular concern is the fact that delays have become the rule, there is almost no project that has not broken the agreed deadline, they report News.
The Putnikovo Brdo – Medakovo section is one year and eight months late.
Medakovo – Ozimice broke the deadline by ten months. On March 21, the Turkish company Cengiz Insaat suspended work on this section because the FBiH Highways owed them as much as 136 million KM.
The Nemila – Vranduk section is two years and five months late.
The Vranduk – Ponirak subdivision, for which the contract was signed back in May 2019, will enter its fifth year of delay next month.
The Ponirak – Vraca subdivision is no better either, which is more than four years late.
The Sarajevo ring road has become a symbol of endless waiting. Citizens have been waiting for its completion for 18 years. The children who were born when the first activities on this project were started this year are coming of age and receiving ID cards, while the ring road is not yet finished.
The Lašva – Nević Polje expressway project is no exception. The deadline for completion was 20 months, and today it was broken by two and a half years.
The Hranjen tunnel swallowed millions, and the FBIH Highway says they have no money for further work. Deadlines – missed.
All this is happening at a time when the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank have clearly announced that they will not approve new tranches of loans until the current leadership of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Highway is changed.
