Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in northern Korea on Friday, the KCN State Agency reported. A visit is part of all the closer links between Moscow and Pyongjang.
Lavrov will stay until Sunday and meet with a colleague from North Korea. He arrived from Malaysia, after the meeting of the Assean Foreign Ministers, and landed in the coastal town of Wonsan.
The visit comes after the two countries recently signed a defense agreement.
According to the South Korea, North Korea has already sent more than 10,000 soldiers in Russia, and soon could send additional troops, as well as 6,000 military engineers for the renovation of the Russian region Kursk.
After North Korea, Lavrov will travel to China, where he will participate in the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
