The International Football Federation (FIFA) appointed the Board of Directors of the educational project worth 100 million dollars, in which, among others, the legendary American tennis player Serena Williams, the singer Shakira and the daughter of the American President Donald Trump, Ivanka.
Launched earlier this year, FIFA’s Global Fund for civic education aims to collect 100 million US dollars to expand access to education and football for children around the world.
It will be partially financed by ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup. Namely, from every ticket sold, one dollar will go to the fund.
The Board of Directors also includes a Brazilian soccer player Poosinger The Weeknd and an actor Hugh Jackman.
Football unites the world, and today we use that unity to leave a lasting impact off the pitchsaid FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Applications are now open for organizations seeking grants for local education, community education and football programs.
I saw it first hand the power that football has in creating opportunities for children around the world and it is crucial that we continue this work. I have been involved in the FIFA Football for Schools program since its inception, I have experienced on the pitch how powerful it is and I am passionate about the possibilities that come from combining football and educationadded Brazilian legend Kaka.
