Golden State Warriors’ wing, 36-year-old Jimmy Butler, suffered a serious injury to his right knee in last night’s match against his former club, the Miami Heat, due to which he will have to miss the rest of this NBA season, the American sports portal ESPN announced.
Butler was injured in the middle of the third quarter, when he collided with rival player Davion Mitchell and landed awkwardly on his right legafter which he remained lying on the field with a painful expression on his face. Butler stayed on the floor for a few minutes, surrounded by his teammates, and they later helped him up and limped to the locker room.
Butler was immediately given an MRI which confirmed rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee.

His injury is serious blow for Steve Kerr’s team, which started to rise in form and in the rankings, achieving 12 wins in the last 16 games, for which Jimmy Butler had a lot of credit. In January, he averaged 21.3 baskets with 53% shooting success from the field. By the time he was injured, Butler had scored 17 points in 21 minutes against Miami. This season, he played in 38 of 44 games and averaged 20 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
