Commenting on the new American administration, Scholz said that the United States of America is Germany’s closest ally, and will do everything to keep it that way because it is in the common interest and necessary for peace and security around the world.
“In a world that is constantly on the brink of a nervous breakdown because of social media, we need cool heads. We don’t need every press conference and every tweet to drag us into a heated existential debate,” Scholz said.
He stated that it is clear that US President Donald Trump will keep the world in uncertainty in the fields of energy, climate, trade, foreign and security policy in the coming years.
