The Minister for Labour, Social Policy and Refugees of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Dr. Antonio Šimunović, today signed the Annex to the contract on the functioning of this institution with the director of the JU Center for Children and Adults with Special Needs ZDK, Ernad Metaj. This provided additional funds in the amount of 200,000 KM, which created the conditions for increasing the wages of employees by 10 percent, as well as for improving the quality of services provided to users.
– This is just a continuation of the continuous activities of this Government and the line ministry, aimed at improving services to vulnerable categories of society, and raising the quality of the standards of employees who do responsible and demanding work. In two years, we have managed to place a fairly neglected public institution in the focus it deserves, creating conditions so that the professional staff, which is certainly in short supply in ZDK, is not lost – said Minister Šimunović.
Minister Šimunović explained that through four salary increases, they brought the professional staff in this institution to the level of other budget users.
For the institution, this is an additional obligation to continue the development of early intervention services, care for users of Day Centers and the Expert Body for the assessment and monitoring of children with developmental disabilities according to the international classification.
– Thanks to the understanding and empathy, first of all, of Minister Šimunović, but also of other members of the ZDK Government, we imposed this institution as an example of good practice in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has already been recognized by higher authorities. Unfortunately, the fact that we currently provide services to more than 800 users shows that the need to care for people with developmental disabilities is growing, and this Government is certainly an example of how the government should treat social welfare institutions – said Ernad Metaj.
