Since the spring of this year, Ryanair is launching five new routes from Sarajevo, which will connect the capital of BiH with Girona (Spain), Paris-Beauvais (France), Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (Germany) and Stockholm (Sweden). The new lines were presented today at a press conference held at Sarajevo International Airport.
Sanin Ramezić, Acting Director of Sarajevo Airport, pointed out that these new lines bring long-awaited world destinations for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We announce the continuation of successful cooperation with Ryanair, which is the largest airline in Europe in terms of the number of passengers transported. This contributes to the achievement of strategic goals for our country,” said Ramezić.
The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk emphasized the importance of these new flights and expressed satisfaction with the results so far.
“One year after the announcement of the first flights, today we are talking about additional destinations. I can say that we are on the right path and we will continue with this intensity in the future,” said Uk.
KS Minister of Economy Zlatko Mijatović thanked Ryanair for their trust and emphasized the benefit of their arrival for tourism in the Canton.
With the introduction of new routes, Ryanair will become the number one airline from Sarajevo, according to the number of flights and available seats, surpassing Turkish Airlines and Pegasus. In the summer schedule for 2025, Ryanair plans to offer a total of 300,000 seats.
Ryanair’s commercial director, Jason McGuinnes, emphasized the importance of establishing a base in Sarajevo, which would bring local jobs. He also appealed for the abolition of airport taxes.
“If Sarajevo Airport wants to attract additional investment from Ryanair, including a potential base, it must remain competitive against other countries that are abolishing air taxes to ensure traffic growth,” said McGuinnes.
In addition to already existing lines to Brussels, Gothenburg, London, Memmingen, Bergamo, Stockholm and Thessaloniki, Ryanair will this year have more than 50 weekly flights on a total of 11 routes from Sarajevo.
