Russian forces are intensively bombarding the territory of Kupjanska hromada, which creates major obstacles for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of civilians. Besedin warned that the situation in this area of the Kharkiv region is still extremely critical.
“The enemy is closing in. The contact line is now only two kilometers from Kupjansk. The bombardment continues continuously, using all types of weapons at their disposal: from mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems to drones that follow and target logistics routes, thus they hinder the delivery of humanitarian aid and the free movement of the population,” said Besedin.
For him, the situation on the left (eastern) bank of Kupjanska hromada remains critical for more than three months. More than 900 people, mostly elderly people, live in very difficult conditions and refuse evacuation.
“The number of people left does not change. Few of them leave, especially from the left bank of Kupjanska hromada, where the situation is still critical. They have been there for more than three months in complete isolation, without electricity, gas, water, and social services, shops, pharmacies and hospitals are unavailable. “More than 900 people, mostly elderly, refuse to leave the area despite the inhumane conditions,” added Besedin.
Kupyansk, which was strategically important from the beginning of the war, was under Russian occupation until September 20, 2022, when Ukrainian forces managed to liberate the city.
