– Since the security of this match, which was assessed as a high-risk match and which certainly represented one of the biggest security challenges for the actions of the police structures of the ZDK in recent years, when drawing up the security plan, special attention was paid to the actions of police officers in the context of current events in the sports community of our country, and primarily knowledge that was associated with certain fan groups from Romania but also Serbia, and which pointed to the announcement of certain illegal behaviors and provoking fans and hooligan riots – it is stated in the statement of the MUP ZDK.
All information collected was checked extremely seriously and special operational activities and actions of police teams were planned accordingly.
In this sense, cooperation with other police agencies and security services was achieved at a very high level, which resulted in effective monitoring and supervision of all groups and individuals, but also in the prevention of any incidents or fan riots. As a result of the above, security measures have been specially developed and planned when it comes to visiting fans in order to ensure maximum personal safety for them.
As a confirmation of the above, the fact that during and after the game, in the area of the city of Zenica and the Bilino Polje stadium, no incidents or cases of endangering the personal and property safety of fans, professional staff and guests were recorded.
As it was stated at the meeting of the Headquarters for coordinating and directing all security activities, which was held after the match, and at which the entire procedure was analyzed, only in one case were actions taken to determine the identity of a Romanian citizen.
– As the public is aware, an important segment and novelty in the actions of the ZDK police was the active strengthening of surveillance through the functioning of the video-surveillance system, with more than 120 cameras deployed at key locations in the city and at the stadium, where a special team with drones was also engaged, as well as special vehicles with integrated cameras for video and audio surveillance – say the ZDK MUP.
More than 500 police officers of the Police Department of the MUP ZDK, members of the Police Support Unit of the Federal Police Administration, members of special police units and police support units of the Ministries of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, Tuzla Canton, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Una-Sana Canton and Central Bosnia Canton, as well as officers of the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH were engaged to undertake all activities to secure the sports event.
As part of the indicated activities, official dogs trained to act in cases of disorder and find narcotics and explosives were hired.
In securing the match, the Police Directorate of the MUP ZDK used all previously acquired knowledge, experience and procedures, which require detailed and serious planning of every detail in all segments of the actions and actions of police officers, and secured the designated sporting event in the best way possible, and provided and ensured maximum personal and property security for all fans, professional staff and guests.
– We especially thank all citizens and guests, who recognized our efforts, acted in accordance with the issued orders and instructions of police officers, and with correct and sportsmanlike behavior contributed to the creation of a safe environment – it is stated in the statement of the MUP ZDK.
