The first match, played under Bijelim Brijeg, ended with a 1:0 victory for Zrinjski, so the Mostar club won the fourth trophy in the biggest football competition in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a total of 2:1.
Zrinjski thus won the fourth BiH Cup in the club’s history, after the trophies from the 2007/2008, 2022/2023 seasons. and 2023/2024. Velež remained on one Cup won, which it won in the 2021/2022 season.
After the match, the coaches of both teams made statements.
Velež coach Ibro Rahimić said that his team was disrupted by Zrinjski’s early goal.
“We conceded an early goal and it defeated us. We scored a late goal to change the final result,” said Rahimić.
On the other hand, Zrinjski coach Igor Štimac did not hide his satisfaction after winning the trophy.
“I am very satisfied, we did not doubt for a single moment. This is a championship team and it is a habit of winning,” said Štimac.
He added that after the early goal, his team somewhat gave the initiative to the opponent and that they have to work on it in the future, but that he is proud of the club, players and fans.
“We scored too early and somehow gave up the game, so we tried to counterattack and we have to work on that. I am absolutely proud of the club, the fans, and especially the players,” said the coach of Zrinjski.
