The ceremonial academy on the occasion of November 25 – the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, was held last night at the Bosnian National Theater in Zenica.
Prime Minister Nezir Pivić congratulated the citizens and those present at the academy, who said that November 25, 1943 was a historical act that confirmed the necessity of the common political and state life of people in this area. He emphasized that ZAVNOBiH confirmed the continuity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the equality of the people who live in it, and that this is the spirit and letter of the session of ZAVNOBiH held in Mrkonjić Grad.
– Even then, the delegates of ZAVNOBIH were aware of our differences in relation to other republics of the former common country. Everyone who ruled these areas left their mark on our country and our people. That is why we were, and remain, a cultural and civilizational unique, so the resolution from Mrkonjić City confirmed the determination of the people that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be a fraternal community in which full equality of all peoples and nationalities will be ensured.
ZAVNOBiH strengthened the foundations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and sealed the external borders, which were internationally recognized in 1992, when the flag with lilies fluttered in front of the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. And then we had to form ranks again in order to defend ourselves against attacks on our homeland and our people. Five decades after ZAVNOBIH, the army of patriots organized first through the Territorial Defense, and then the magnificent Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the command of the President of the Presidency Alija Izetbegović, stood in defense of the people and the country against brutal aggression – said the Prime Minister of ZDK.
Pivić said that during the 1992-95 aggression, they were in an honorable fight for the greatest civilizational values. many patriots paid the price with their lives, paying tribute to martyrs and fallen fighters, as well as to all defenders who left body parts and their health on the battlefields throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also paid tribute to the participants of the National Liberation Struggle who also fought for the greatest human values – equality, freedom and homeland.
– The sacrifice of a patriot will never and must not be forgotten. It is the duty of the institutions and all of us to inherit the heritage of the struggle for the homeland and take care of the defenders and their families, which this canton really shows with its measures and policies.
Three decades have passed since the establishment of the Dayton peace, but attacks on state sovereignty and integrity and aspirations for new divisions do not stop. What they did not succeed in war, they want to achieve in peace. These forces obstruct our European path and the strengthening of the state and generally slow down positive processes. From this place, I want to tell them that we will persevere in our efforts to create an environment tailored to every citizen and to strengthen the position of our country in Europe and the world, but also that we are ready to defend our country by all means. Bosnia has been, is and is stronger since time immemorial and will survive for many new future generations.
Let’s protect and love our Bosnia and Herzegovina, let the patriotic charge unite and strengthen us and let’s continue to build it and lead it towards a better future and progress. This is the task of all of us – said Prime Minister Nezir Pivić.
Earlier, the delegations of the Government and the Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton laid flowers and paid their respects at the memorial ossuary to the fallen NOB fighters “Papirna” and the central memorial to martyrs and fallen fighters “Stone Sleeper” in Zenica.
