The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and the director of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, Tarik Zulović, today initialed the Agreement on the realization of the connection of the Hospital to the natural gas network within the project “Improving energy efficiency in the Zenica Cantonal Hospital”.
The project envisages that natural gas will become the main energy source, which will contribute to greater energy efficiency of the Hospital system, reduction of harmful gas emissions in the city of Zenica, and the cessation of the use of coal as an energy source.
The project also plans the financial participation of the City of Zenica through two contracts related to the connection of the Hospital to the gas pipeline network and the supply of natural gas. Infrastructural works for the connection of the Hospital to the gas network will be carried out with the participation of the City with 49%, while the rest of the funds will be provided by the Canton and the Zenica Cantonal Hospital. For consulting services and supervision of infrastructure works, the City will participate with 16% of the necessary funds.
The agreement still needs to be initialed by Mayor Fuad Kasumović on behalf of the City of Zenica and Director of JP “Zenicagas” doo Zenica, Sandino Rizvanović.
Considering the estimated value of the project of joining the City of Zenica of over 1.5 million euros, the assistance of the Canton through this agreement amounts to about 1.5 million KM.
This confirms the commitment of the Zenica-Doboj Canton to support local communities. The project will enable the energy independence of the City, because in the future it will no longer depend on district heating from the Ironworks, and at the same time it will contribute to the green agenda by reducing air pollution.
