The number of unemployed decreased by 10,159 people compared to May 2025.
The number of unemployed persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina continued to fall during May this year, confirming the multi-month trend of labor market recovery. According to the data of the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there were 305,335 persons on the records of institutes and employment services at the end of May, which is 4,488 less than the month before, i.e. a drop of 1.45 percent.
Compared to May of last year, the number of unemployed decreased by 10,159 persons, or 3.22 percent, and the drop in unemployment was recorded in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 3,804 persons, in the Republika Srpska by 559 persons, while in Brčko District, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 125 persons.
Although unemployment is falling, women still make up the majority of job seekers. Of the total number of registered unemployed, 182,213 are women, which represents almost 60 percent of all registered unemployed persons.
When it comes to the educational structure of the unemployed, the largest share is made up of people with secondary education and qualified workers.
The records include 95,759 qualified workers (KV), 89,012 unqualified persons (NKV), and 87,220 persons with secondary vocational education (SSS). At the same time, a significant number of highly educated citizens are looking for work – 24,350 people with a university degree.
During May, 8,291 new job seekers were registered in the institute’s records, while 12,817 persons were deleted from the records. Out of the total number of people deleted from the records, 7,362 people started a working relationship, which represents 57.4 percent of all deletions.
Employers reported 3,404 new jobs during May, which shows the continued need for labor. In the same period, 6,650 persons whose employment relationship ended were recorded.
According to the data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in April of this year there were 851,918 employed persons in BiH, of which 391,561 were women, and compared to March, the number of employed persons increased by 0.2 percent, writes Tuzlanski.ba
