Police in London have launched a search for a man who cuts women’s hair on the street.
Posts on social networks state that so far five women have been attacked and their hair cut off, and one was allegedly severely beaten in the Sidcup area, in south-east London.

Police are intensively searching for the attacker, and women have been warned to be careful when walking down the street.
The unusual attack happened last Tuesday just after 8:40 p.m.
Since then, more posts about similar incidents have appeared on social media, although the police say they are only aware of that one confirmed attack.
“To all the girls and women in Sidcup, be careful! A serial killer randomly attacks women from behind. He has attacked five people so far and likes to cut hair, so please be careful,” reads one post circulating on the Internet, Index writes.
A woman claims on social media that a very good friend of hers was attacked and states that the incident took place on Mallard Walk.
According to her, the victim was throwing garbage when the attacker sneaked up behind her and cut off a large part of her hair.
Police have since stepped up patrols in the area.
“We are aware of social media posts about attacks on women in the Sidcup area of south London,” a police spokesman said.
“We can confirm that we responded to an incident that occurred on Tuesday, January 7, at 8:41 p.m., on Mallard Walk, where a woman reported that a man had cut her hair. Please be assured that we are working intensively to locate the suspect, and local police officers are carrying out high-visibility patrols in those areas.”
Police urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
