In memory of 12 women killed in BiH during 2024, the Salma Salkić, Tight Masic and Nadja Hasanovic, was launched by the “Forestry Scents” project, but also to warn the problem of gender-based violence and offers information to women who suffer violence.
The courtyard of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo is permanently reminiscent of fematicide victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and after the eight seedlings of ornamental almond were planted.
These actions that focuses on the perseverance of the fight against figicide, nobility and understanding is dedicated to women who were killed in cases of gender-based violence. Special focus is placed on the cases of Femicida during 2024.
The planting was attended by numerous citizens, and participants, in addition to planting, took home and symbolic packets of flowers seeds.

“Forest forests of forgotten scents is a humanitarian-educational project, through the symbolic act of planting trees, conical to the victims of the classroom. Everybody’s importance of communion, empathy and fighting for violence against women,” the Tight Masic, one of the projects of the project.
Nadja Hasanović, a member of the project team, says that the project aimed to include the community, especially youth, in educational and empathetic action of raising consciousness about figicide.
“Through this project, we want to present the experiences of victims of violence through personal stories, in order to raise awareness and human understanding of the problem,” Hasanovic said.
Speaking of the justification of the project, Selma Salkić pointed out that the “forest of forgotten scents” was created from the needs of the victims of fematicides.
“Our goal is to make the memory of women who have lost their lives as victims of figicide make visible, permanent and rooted – literally and symbolic.”
The workshops were held as part of the multi-month project, and the collected recommendations for improving the institutional support for women victims of violence to be submitted to the competent institutions.
The “forest of forgotten scents” thus became a permanent monument to the victims of Femicida and the invitation to the society that violence against women should never be silenced.
The author was ordered and in addition to the Memorialization projects that come from citizens and activists necessary to get the institutions of government more seriously deal with the prevention of figicides and stricter penitals for Femicide perpetrators.
The first step is, to send the message through the laws to send the system to protect victims, and it is easiest to do the implementation of the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH, which is in force since the beginning of August.
Students warn that the fight against figicide must not stop at the adoption of the law amendment, but that the full application of recently adopted amendments must be needed.
“The amendments to the imprisonment for the perpetrators of Femicida is now, when we have developments in laws, the implementation of this law. The law is being implemented and the possibility of imposing a long-term prison sentence,” said Selma Salkić.
The author’s projects thanked everyone who assisted the realization of project activities, and especially the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo for presumpoted premises and planting assistance.
The project enabled the Humanity in Action BiH Foundation, within the program “encouraging democratic values and active citizenship among young people”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (Ned), writes Noise.
