The delegation of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Ambassador Rick Holtzapple, the head of the Mission, visited the Zenica-Doboj Canton today, where they spoke with Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and Minister of Finance Dženana Čišija.
The meeting was also attended by Magdalena Stanczyk, head of the OSCE Field Office in Travnik, and Amir Hadžić, an employee of this office.
During the conversation, the continued support of the OSCE Mission to the institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina was highlighted, as well as the importance of the cooperation of all levels of government in implementing reform processes and strengthening the rule of law.
Ambassador Holtzapple, for whom this was the first visit to Zenica and the Zenica-Doboj Canton, emphasized the importance of direct meetings with representatives of domestic institutions. He pointed out that one of the priorities of the OSCE Mission in BiH is to provide support to the authorities at all levels in the areas of good governance, transparency and strengthening of democratic institutions. He also thanked the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for the cooperation and openness to dialogue so far.
Prime Minister Nezir Pivić informed the ambassador about the work and functioning of the Cantonal Government, stressing that it is a stable and compact body that makes all decisions unanimously. As it was pointed out, the government held 103 sessions in the past two years, without a single decision made by overvoting.
Pivić assessed that the cooperation with the OSCE Mission was always professional and constructive, and that the OSCE experts provided significant support to the Canton in the implementation of reform processes, especially in the area of the fight against corruption and the reform of the education system.
The meeting also discussed the process of passing the Law on reporting and the procedure for checking data on the assets of public office holders in the ZDK, as well as the drafting of other legal regulations in the area of anti-corruption policies.
