The Federation of Independent BiH unions calculated that the consumer basket for July amounts to 3,202.70 KM. The average salary in the FBiH was 1,590 KM, and the coverage of the union consumer basket is an average salary 49.64 percent.
At the same time, the RS Trade Union calculated that the consumer basket also for July amounts to 2,750 KM and the average salary of RS 1,556 KM covered that basket with 56.58 percent.
According to this, the Consumer basket in the RS is almost 500 km cheaper than those in the RS.
Both consumer baskets include the same categories, ie food, footwear and clothes, housing and utilities, hygiene and health, education and culture, transportation and household maintenance.
The question arises about what it is about, is whether it is cheaper to live in the RS.
Gordana Bulić, President of the Association of Tuzla Canton, is that this difference between the two unions is the result of the RS political views and the FBiH because the difference in prices, if there is also, cannot be so much.
He points out that “crawling” of the union is a reflection of politics.
– Prices are not so different. They are the same food prices, fuels. There are some symbolic differences, but so many … It is purely obstruction “Our basket is better” – Bulić added.
On the other hand, the economic analyst and the Investment Consultant in BiH, if it is the same items in the consumer basket, in principle it can be said that where the misery is higher, the prices are lower, writes Factor.
– Market, the purchasing power of citizens determines the height of the margin and the price. The economic situation in the RS is harder and that is the reason why prices are lower than in the FBiH. We also have a situation in transporting goods from the world in BiH to come to RS first, then goes to FBiH. If that cost is taken into account, and this affects the prices. There are also agricultural products from which some of which are produced in the RS, and in the FBiH only in Herzegovina, some early variety variant.
