“In the past period, after the director of the Široki Brijeg Football Club and some members of the Supervisory Board resigned, intensive discussions were held in the club with the aim of stabilization and finding a common path of progress.
In these pivotal moments, the wider business and social community of Široki Brijeg sent a clear and strong message of support to the Široki Brijeg Football Club, aware of their social responsibility and the importance of preserving positive values in sports and the community.
All previous sponsors, along with several new partners, have openly supported the club, which for decades has been deeply woven into the identity of the city and the everyday life of its citizens. Businessmen from Široki Brijeg, with the indispensable institutional support of the City of Široki Brijeg and the Government of the West Herzegovina Canton, confirmed that they recognize the importance of systemic and long-term investment in sport, aware that it goes beyond the competitive aspect and has a strong educational, social and identity role.
At times when the club is facing great challenges, the support shown gains additional weight and confirms the strength of the community.
After a significant financial reconstruction with the aim of consolidating and reducing current costs, continuing to settle existing obligations and creating a foundation for long-term and sustainable development, Široki Brijeg Football Club is fully focused on the future.
In this context, the management structure of the club will be defined at the next Assembly of the Široki Brijeg Football Club in order to ensure additional stability, transparency and a clear direction of further development.
At the same time, it is important to emphasize that the existence of the club is not and will not be in question, as has been speculated in the public lately.
NK Široki Brijeg is going through a demanding but also responsible period of consolidation, with strong community support and a clear vision of the future. We are aware of all the problems and we do not run away from them.
It is clear that our club is an important sports, social and identity subject of the city and the wider community. Through his name, the name of the city is also promoted, a name that carries a strong historical and emotional value.
That connection between the club, the city and the people is confirmed by every team’s appearance on the field, every game and every emotion shared by the fans in the stands.
We are aware that our players and professional staff are the most visible presenters of the club, and we expect them to treat the club’s jersey and crest with pride and respect, regardless of whether they play at our Pecara or any other visiting stadium.
Equally on the field and off it! The results can sometimes be worse, and sometimes better for us, but the right approach, sportsmanship and focus must not be missing. And we are sure that, dear fans, you will know that and how to value it.
We are sure that NK Široki Brijeg will be very competitive in the spring part of the season.
