French midfielder N’Golo Kanté has signed for Fenerbahce after two and a half seasons in the Saudi league, the Istanbul club announced on Wednesday, thanking Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for intervening to finalize the transfer.

Fenerbahce, who he did not specify how long Kante signed forsaid in a lengthy press release that Al-Ittihad officials “incorrectly entered” data relating to the Frenchman’s transfer into FIFA’s Transfer Management Software (TMS) just as the transfer window closed in Saudi Arabia.
But President Erdogan, who flew to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday for a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, used his influence.
