Despite undergoing prostate surgery this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still plans to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington on January 20, a government official familiar with the details told The Times of Israel.
According to the officials, logistical discussions about the trip were held yesterday.
Netanyahu briefly left the hospital yesterday evening, two days after the operation, to vote on key legislation related to the budget. After the decisive vote, he returned to the medical center that evening.
In addition to the prime minister’s health problems, an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in November makes the trip even more risky, as an emergency landing in many countries along the route could result in his arrest.
The trip to Washington would be Netanyahu’s first known flight abroad since the warrants were issued.
