Basketball player Džanan Musa from Bosnia and Herzegovina has spoken publicly after recent speculations about his absence from the European Championship.
Musa clarified the situation related to his injury and explained the reasons why he did not play for the national team.
“Regardless of the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I felt the need to clarify a few things. Due to a sudden hernia operation, there were rumors that ‘Džanan Musa does not want to play at the European Championship’. That is not true,” Musa said in the announcement.
The basketball player recalled numerous difficult situations in which he performed for the national team, including playing with a broken nose, wrist injury and larynx fracture.
“The first question I asked the doctor was whether I would be ready for the EP, and all decisions were made in coordination with the medical and coaching team of the national team,” Musa added.
He explained that the delay in joining the national team was fully in accordance with the recommendations of the professional team due to the injury and the long season in Madrid, and the absence from the tournament was the result of complications with the wound.
“I’m not looking for an excuse, but everyone who follows me knows that in eleven years of my professional career, whenever there was even the slightest chance to play for the national team, I was there. My actions best show how much Bosnia and Herzegovina means to me,” said Musa.
The basketball player emphasized that it is important to inform the public about the player’s condition in a timely manner and pointed out that the communication in the national team regarding his case was not optimal.
“Responsibility and protection and informing the public in a timely manner should have been a priority. This is how the judgment was made, not only about me, but about the entire story surrounding the European Championship,” concluded Musa.
