The regional initiative “Moving Us Closer”, implemented by the Special Olympics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, continued its journey throughout the country, promoting the values of inclusion, tolerance and social equality through sports.
Today, an inclusive training and educational workshop was held in Bosanski Petrovac with the students of MSŠ “Bosanski Petrovac” and the youth selections of NK “Mladost”, in which a total of 60 children and young people participated.
– This project is extremely important for our school because it gathers young people around common values - understanding, cooperation and mutual respect. Through this project, our students learn that differences are not obstacles, but assets that bring us closer to each other.
We are proud that our school participates in an initiative that builds bridges among young people and strengthens unity in the local and international community. Projects like this inspire us to continue developing the school as a place where everyone feels accepted, supported and motivated to contribute to the world we live in – said the director of MSŠ B. Petrovac Nedret Delić.
Through joint exercises, play and interaction, children shared experiences, encouraged each other and lived the message of sports for all. Moments like these create generations that understand that differences are not obstacles, but assets, and that the team wins when everyone is accepted.
Today’s event was supported by the Bosanski Petrovac Municipality Administration, confirming the readiness of the local community to actively contribute to building an inclusive and fairer society.
Adnan Družić, an employee of the Municipality of Bosanski Petrovac, said that with today’s activities, they wanted to show athletes and high school students the importance of inclusion in our society.
This week marks the International Day of Tolerance, so the “Moving Us Closer” initiative will continue its activities in: Vitez on Saturday, November 15, and in Zenica on Sunday, November 16.
The regional initiative “Moving Us Closer” is implemented with the support of UNFPA – the United Nations Population Fund, the Embassy of the Republic of Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United Nations Secretary General’s Peace Building Fund.
The event in Bosanski Petrovac once again showed that children intuitively build a future that knows no differences, live the values of unity, equality and compassion and play a game in which everyone has their place.
