Ahead of Morocco’s clash with Comoros, an opening ceremony took place that combined music, movement and symbolism, setting a powerful tone for Morocco’s month-long celebration of African football.
The ceremony combined African rhythms with traditional Moroccan sounds. Visual projections were inspired by Moroccan zellige patterns and artisanal works, while giant screens depicted daily life, landscapes and iconic cities, including Fez, Casablanca and Marrakesh.
One of the more emotional moments was the performance of the song “Allah Ya Moulana”, immortalized by the legendary Moroccan group Nass El Ghiwane. Stars French Montana, Davido, L’Artiste and Jaylann also performed during the ceremony.

The championship was officially opened by the heir to the throne of Morocco, Moulay Hassan.

24 national teams are participating in the championship, which are divided into six groups of four teams each. The two best national teams from each group and the four best-ranked third-placed teams will qualify for the round of 16.
The matches will be played in six Moroccan cities until January 18, when the final is in Rabat.
