Citizens of Moldova today went to the parliamentary elections that could decide whether the country will continue the way to membership in the European Union or return under the stronger influence of Russia. The elections were held in the atmosphere of serious charges for Russian mixing.
According to preliminary results, after more than 70 percent counted votes, the ruling Pro-European Party of the Action and Solidarity (PAS), led by the president of Maia Sand, leads with 44 percent of the vote, while the Pro-Patriotic block currently has about 28 percent.

These elections are seen as a turning point. Analysts believe that this may be the last chance for Moscow to influence the direction of Moldova before the Earth does a determined step towards EU membership.
