In the premises of the Ministry of Health of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, a meeting was held today as part of the project “Improving the Health System in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – HSIP”, which the Federal Ministry of Health is implementing in cooperation with the World Bank.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health ZDK dr. Aida Salčinović, head of the HSIP project in front of the Federal Ministry of Health, dr. Vildana Doder with the HSIP implementation team, representatives of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, the director of the Institute of Health Insurance, the Institute of Occupational Medicine and the representative of the Institute for Health and Food Safety, as well as directors of health centers from the area of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
The Minister of Health welcomed all participants and thanked them for their response. She pointed out that this is an important step towards the realization of the project’s goals, and expressed the expectation that joint work will contribute to solving the problems faced by health institutions, as well as to the improvement of primary health care, hospital systems and information technologies.
Minister Salčinović reminded that the Conference of Ministers of Health was held last month in Neum, where numerous conclusions were reached on the necessary changes and ways to improve the health system.
– With the support of the Federal Ministry of Health and the World Bank, I believe that we will significantly improve the quality of health care in our canton – said Dr. Salčinović.
Key topics related to the HSIP project – Improvement of the health system in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed. Special focus was on the current status of the project, the stage of procurement of medical equipment according to the requirements of health institutions, and planned activities for the next year. An important topic of the meeting was related to project indicators and the obligation to collect data, which was highlighted as one of the foundations for monitoring the success of implementation.
The team for the implementation of the project presented brief information on the development of information technologies that are introduced in the cantons, as well as the process of implementing the safety and quality system. The meeting was concluded with an open discussion on the rationalization of the health system, with an emphasis on strengthening the role of primary health care as the basis for the improvement of health services.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss key activities and priorities within the project, with the aim of strengthening the health system and improving the quality of health services.
