In one of the most awaited derbies of Italian football, the 245th edition of the “Derby della Madonnina”, Milan beat Inter as a guest by a minimum of 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Christian Pulišić in the 54th minute, giving Milan the 83rd victory in this historic rivalry. Inter remained at 91 triumphs, while 71 matches ended in a draw.
Inter had their first serious chance already in the third minute when Marcus Thuram headed, but Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan made a great save. Petar Sučić also tried in the 15th minute, but it was not accurate. Milan threatened for the first time in the 16th minute through Davide Bartesaghi, but the ball did not end up in the net. Inter scored twice in the 27th and 37th minutes, while Milan did not seriously threaten in the first half.
In the continuation of the match, Milan took the lead in the 54th minute. After a counterattack, Alexis Saelemaekers shot from the edge of the penalty area, Sommer saved, but Pulisic was the most skilled and put the ball into the net.
Inter had a chance to equalize in the 74th minute when Hakan Calhanoglu scored a penalty, but Maignan once again excelled.
