The Croatian men’s senior basketball team has a new window of qualifying matches for the 2027 World Cup. The Croatian national team will gather in Opatija on June 15.
The first check on the schedule is at Gorizia June 24when Croatia will face Italy in a friendly match. After that they follow two extremely important ones qualifying matches that will greatly direct Croatia’s path towards the World Championship. Croatia will July 3rd guest on Cypruswhile will July 6th in front of the home fans in Osijek’s City Garden to host the national team of Israel.
Sand we are pleased to publish a list of 18 players who will be with us in competition for the next two games in the upcoming window in continuation of our World Cup qualifiers. It is very important to us how it is in our entire process of player selection and selection continuity present. The vast majority of players have been with us since the beginning of the pre-qualification cycle. We are glad that in this continuity we can always have the opportunity to add some players who have attracted special attention for themselves with their games in the club during the past period. In this list, of course, missing a few players who were with us in the previous windows. All of them were justifiably absent in agreement with me and the staff – some due to injuries sustained in club competitions, some due to private situations approved by us, so it is a continuous process. I’m glad that the players who have been with us since the beginning are here and actually are base of this representation. It is with this approach that we believe that we can step by step reach our goal, which is to qualify for the World Championship in Qatar.
Let’s remind, after four played games Croatia is at the top of the group with a record of three wins and one loss. Thanks to the better goal difference in the meetings with Germany, the Croatian national team currently holds the first place in the group and wants to continue the winning streak and ensure the best possible position before the final stage of the qualifications.
The three best national teams from the group (Croatia, Germany and Israel) continue the competition in the final stage of the qualifications, where they will face the three best selections of the second group (Poland, the Netherlands, Austria and Latvia). At that stage, each national team will play six more games against opponents she has never met before. Placement to the World Cup will be won by the three best national teams from the final group.
