After the sudden melting of the snow, the situation in the flooded area of the two municipalities of Gračanica and Doboj East has been getting more complicated since yesterday. In the area of Gračanica, in the settlements of Lohinja Donja and Pribava, over 20 hectares of fertile arable land were flooded, while the situation in Doboj Istok is even more difficult. In this municipality, according to Sulejman Delic, more than 40 hectares of Sprečki polje are under water. The level of the river Spreča is increasing and at the Karanovac measuring point this morning it was 323.70 centimeters. At the dam of Lake Modrac, only four centimeters remain until the overflow.
– This time too, it is not difficult to guess the causes of the flooding of the Sprečko polje in the Gračanica and Doboj Istok area. In JP “Spreča”, which manages the hydroaccumulation of Lake Modrac, they knew that there would be a sudden melting of the deep snow, so the lake had to be prepared in time to receive large volumes of water from the tributaries. Unfortunately, the information that since this morning 67 cubic meters of water are being released from the lake via the lake dam in Spreč per second and that because of this flooding is expected, I said it all. The level of the lake this morning is 199.96 meters above sea level and there are 4 centimeters left to overflow, and if that happens, the water at the dam can no longer be controlled – says Mustafa Baić, head of the CZ Service of the city of Gračanica.

The situation is also difficult in the municipality of Doboj Istok. The head of the Civil Protection Service, Sulejman Delić, points out that the rehabilitation of the landslide in the Stanić Rijeka settlement, which threatened one house, and flooded more than 40 hectares of Sprečki polje, is underway.
– The river Spreča has been out of its bed for several days, it directly threatened a company. We are on the ground and monitoring the situation – says Delić.
