From New York to San Francisco, through Chicago, New Orleans and small towns in the central part of the United States, approximately seven million people participated in more than 2,700 rallies, according to organizers.
A coalition united under the slogan “No Kings” has already organized well-attended protests on Donald Trump’s birthday in mid-June, with an estimated five million protesters, according to organizers.
These figures are impossible to verify because US authorities do not publish estimates at the national level.

Even so, Saturday’s gatherings were the largest protest movement in the country since the Republicans returned to power.
In large demonstrations or dozens of smaller ones along the roads, Americans of all ages gathered in a festival atmosphere to denounce what they call the “authoritarian takeover” of Donald Trump and his associates, reports Hina.

“They are destroying democracy,” condemned Isaac Harder, a high school student interviewed by AFP in the capital, Washington. “This is not America, this is fascism”.
In New York, 100,000 people protested, and in Texas and Florida, conservative strongholds, there were also demonstrations, especially in Houston and near the Mar-a-Lago residence where Donald Trump is spending the weekend.

“How could this happen?” Jennifer Bryant, a lawyer from Houston, told AFP. “Things are moving so fast; they are destroying our institutions, firing civil servants and taking away public funds.”
Faced with the Republican camp accusing them of promoting “hatred of America” and even likening them to terrorists, the protesters responded with humor.
Some of them walked dressed in penguin, lobster or hippopotamus costumes, while others proudly waved the American flag in response to right-wing attacks.
Various posters with Donald Trump dressed as Stalin, the King of England or even the Sun King Louis XIV were seen at parades across the country, and calls for Republicans to leave power echoed.
Trump did not comment on the protests on Saturday, and earlier this week only briefly told Fox television that he was “not the king.”
Several prominent American leftists such as Bernie Sanders and the leader of the Democrats in the Senate Chuck Schumer were also present at the gatherings.
