– The special value of our struggle was nobility, honesty and chivalry when the Sarajevo has been expected to fall into the arms of the aggressor. Members of the brigade did not violate the rules of war because they were serious and honest people at the head of the defense. – 33 years ago, members of the First Brigade of the Police Stari Grad, without any calculations, decided to stop and defend our municipality, the city and BiH. They did that, and that these members were not, including us today are not 44 members, we would not stand here today. That is why today we need to do the same for our homeland, without calculations, as members of the said Brigade worked 33 years ago – said the gathered citizens Prime Minister UK.
Members of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior of Sarajevo were participated in today’s marking, and they also welcomed the Mayor of the Old Town of Irfan Čengić, that this administration is the most important institution in Sarajevo to develop and should be invested.

During the defense-liberation war in the ranks of the First Brigade of Police, the old town of Sarajevo struggled 1,230 fighters, and 44 members of this brigade gave their lives in the defense of the homeland.
– They gave a clear signal to have the strength to resist the armed aggression. We who stood more than three decades ago in the defense of the homeland we have a moral and patriotic obligation that today we are in peace to the keepers of the Constitutional Order and the Stability of BiH – Jašarević concluded.
