At the “Malak” hotel in Ilidža today, the members of the “A” national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amir Hadžiahmetović, Dario Šarić and Arjan Malić, conveyed their impressions and expectations of the upcoming matches to journalists.
Hadžiahmetović pointed out that the team is changing and that he is now working with many new players, but that he believes in the quality of the team:
“A demanding match awaits us against Romania, but with the home field we may be slight favorites. I am doing my best in training and I am ready to give my best,” said Hadžiahmetović.
Šarić emphasized the importance of preparations and the importance of focusing on the first duels.
“We are working hard and we are aware of how much these games mean. Romania is a strong team, but we don’t need to fear anyone. I believe we can achieve success,” he said.
Young defender Arjan Malić explained why he decided to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina, even though Austrian coach Ralf Rangnick tried to win him over.
“Rangnick tried hard, but my dream was always to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside Džeka and Kolasinac. The decision was not against Austria or Slovenia, but a decision of the heart,” said the 20-year-old Sturm player from Graz.
BiH is currently two points behind Austria, but has a real chance to qualify for a major competition for the second time in history after the 2014 World Cup. For that we need victories against Romania and Austria.
“Romania and Austria are strong opponents, but we will do our best. I hope that the match in Vienna will be decisive and it could be a fantastic moment for our national team,” added Malić, highlighting the euphoria among the fans.
