French President Emmanuel Macron requested immediate and abundant humanitarian aid for Gaza, warning that the region is facing a catastrophic situation and unacceptable humanitarian losses, the Elysée Palace announced, French media reported today.
Macron requested this in yesterday’s conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, a day after he had a telephone conversation with Jordanian King Abdullah II, reports BFM television.
“It is urgent, more than ever, after 15 months of conflict, to achieve the release of all hostages held by Hamas, to establish a permanent ceasefire and to allow humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza in large quantities,” Macron said in telephone conversations with the President of Egypt and the King of Jordan. .
The French president also indicated France’s “availability” when it comes to continuing “joint humanitarian actions” with Jordan in order to send aid directly to the Gaza Strip.
He also expressed his willingness to cooperate with all regional partners on the effective implementation of the two-state solution, primarily within the framework of the summit that he will organize together with Saudi Arabia in June next year.
In the talks, Macron emphasized that “the fall of Bashar al-Assad is an opportunity for Syria and the entire region”, pointing out the importance of protecting minorities and continuing the fight against terrorism.
Referring to the situation in Lebanon, he assessed that an election process should be carried out in order to elect a president, after more than two years, French television said, reminding that the Lebanese parliament will meet on January 9 in this regard.
