The parliamentary question regarding the decriminalization of the possession of a small amount of certain substances in the FBiH (for personal use) will be considered, confirmed Admir Čavalić, a representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH).
Čavalić also published a document in which Federal Minister of Justice Vedran Škobić (HDZ) answered a parliamentary question concerning decriminalization. That issue, the minister wrote, will be considered within the framework of the preparation of comprehensive amendments to the FBiH Criminal Code or the development of a new criminal code, with prior consultation with experts.
Čavalic emphasized that he has been fighting for the legalization of cannabis for health purposes for years.
“Why? Because there are countless economic arguments for the purpose of the above (breaking the monopoly of the mafia and crime, formalization of the economy, quality, price, control, etc.), but also numerous health reasons – I have previously organized several events on this topic and usually those who are seriously ill and who use these substances for treatment show up the most.
How can someone who is dying, sick, at the end of his strength be forbidden from using something that could potentially heal him? Better alive illegally than legally dead, is the slogan of Irfan Ribić, with which I agree. I am especially fundamentally against artificial bans – from work bans to drug bans.
Finally, I fight for this cause because it is noble, humane, it saves people’s lives. Besides, I don’t like hypocrisy, especially political hypocrisy. Someone may illegally use various oils, deal, trade, consume, but publicly speak “politically correct” and in accordance with the expectations of part of the public. It is time to put an end to political and general social hypocrisy. It’s time to finally make some progress on this issue and provide our citizens with the right to health,” said Čavalić.
In the comment below the post, someone states that the bill and the rulebook have gone to the Council of Ministers, but “it doesn’t have the strength to get on the agenda and go to the Parliament”: “It is more important to count blood cells. North Macedonia and private companies pay millions in taxes, but also generate millions of profits from the legal cultivation and processing of cannabis, not to mention the rest, and Herzegovina is ideal for cultivation.”
To this, Čavalić replies: “All this has been going on for too long, and the world is moving on. This year I was in Denver in a large breeding facility. Everything is formalized, standardized, no problems. There is really no need to invent hot water when global trends are clear. It is especially tragic that someone is criminally responsible and/or goes to prison for these reasons,” he writes. Radio Sarajevo.
