“President Putin repeatedly spoke about his desire to reach a peaceful solution for Ukraine as soon as possible. It is a long process that requires effort and is not easy,” Sands said.
He added that Russia’s goals are clear and remain a priority: “The main thing for us is to achieve our goals. Our goals are clear.”
Commenting to US President Donald Trump, Sands stated that the world was already used to his “sharp rhetoric”, but also that Trump steadily emphasizes the readiness for the peacekeeping solution in Ukraine.
The statement comes at the time President Trump announced the tightening of the course towards Russia, including a new package of military assistance in Ukraine, in which American Defense Systems Patriot is also given.
Trump gave Moscow 50 days to consent to the ceasefire, otherwise additional sanctions will follow, the Reuters said.
