“No, it would not be correct to say so,” said the spokesman of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, when asked if the claims that Putin rejected the American peace plan for Ukraine can be considered true, reports TASS.
Earlier, the aide to the Russian president Yuriy Ushakov stated that a compromise peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine has not yet been found.
“Some American proposals (for a peace settlement) seem more or less acceptable, but they need to be considered. Part of the wording that was offered to us is unacceptable,” Ušakov said.
Europe in fear
Otherwise, Europe fears that Trump’s initiative could result in an agreement that will not punish Russia, but allow it to preserve the conquered territory.
The continent’s leaders warn that such an agreement could threaten the security of all of Europe and encourage Moscow to new aggressions.
Although the Ukrainians and Europeans managed to reject the most pro-Russian parts of the American plan, their influence on the negotiations is limited. Europe was not involved in the recent US-Ukraine talks in Florida, and will not play a key role during Trump’s upcoming diplomacy with Putin.
