Chairman of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina still faces political challenges stemming from unresolved issues from the past.
– There is no reason for some things that happen in public political life, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that is the state constitution and constitutional organization and you cannot escape from that. You must adhere to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the applicable laws – said Komšić, adding that he believes that new generations will be wiser and more pragmatic in establishing relations in the country.
He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a long history and that it has shown through the centuries that it is indestructible.
– It is indestructible because it has its own basis and foundation. At the end of the day, there is always a sufficient number, the majority of people in BiH who are ready to defend it, in any way, depending on the situation they find themselves in – said Komšić.
Denis Bećirović, member of the BiH Presidency, in his address to the citizens in the homeland and the diaspora, congratulated the Statehood Day, emphasizing that November 25 is deeply embedded in the foundations of the state.
– Statehood Day and the first session of ZAVNOBiH are incorporated into the foundations of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And that is a kind of roadmap for the future of our country – said Bećirović.
He reminded that the statehood of BiH was not acquired in Dayton, but restored at the session of ZAVNOBiH in 1943, while independence was confirmed in the referendum in 1992.
– We did not become one after the initialing of the Dayton Peace Agreement on November 21. Bosnia and Herzegovina became a member of the United Nations on May 22, 1992. That is why we celebrate Statehood Day on November 25 and Independence Day on March 1 – emphasized Bećirović.
Speaking about current political messages from the Republika Srpska entity, Bećirović pointed out that state institutions exist and will exist.
– A politician from the RS entity, now the former president of the RS entity, told us at the beginning of this year that there is no Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, no Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, no Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, no state agencies and that there will be no state of BiH. Now, at the end of the year, we see that there really is a Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that there is a Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina will exist forever. The only thing missing is that politician in the position of president of the RS entity – said Bećirović.
