The New York Knicks convincingly beat the Brooklyn Nets 134-98, remaining undefeated in Madison Square Garden, and Karl-Anthony Towns achieved another double-double.
Towns finished the game with 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Knicks, who have the record at home 6-0 this season. It was Towns’ eighth double-double performance and his 66th in 81 regular-season games since the Knicks signed him on Oct. 2, 2024. Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby each scored 19 points for the Knicks, who shot 54.5 percent, including 45.9 percent (17-of-37) from 3-point range, while holding the Nets to 40.2 percent shooting. Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets, who lost nine of their first 10 games this season, with 25 points.
Minnesota Timberwolves were away from home with a high score of 144-117 Sacramento Kings who have lost six of their last eight games. Anthony Edwards scored the most points for the winning team with 26, Jaden McDaniels added 21 points, while Rudy Gobert finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Julius Randle had 19 points, Naz Reid 13, and Jaylen Clark and Rob Dillingham each added 11 off the bench for Minnesota, which won its fourth game in five games. Zach LaVine led the Kings with 26 points, followed by DeMar DeRozan with 22 and Domantas Sabonis with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Dario Saric he did not compete for the Kings’ roster.
Detroit Pistons were better than on the road with 111-108 Philadelphia 76ers, and Cade Cunningham with 26 points and 11 assists was the most effective member of the winning team. Jalen Duren added 21 points and 16 rebounds and Duncan Robinson had 17 points for Detroit, which extended its winning streak to six games and improved to 8-2, its best start to the season since 2005-06. Tyrese Maxey scored 33 points for the Sixers, but his game-tying 3-pointer at the final buzzer bounced off the rim. Andre Drummond added 17 steals and 12 rebounds.
Golden State Warriors won 114-83 in San Francisco Indiana Pacers even though they were without Steph Curry. In his absence, Jimmy Butler III led the scoring with 21 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals, while Quinten Post and Brandin Podziemski each finished with 14 points. For the Pacers, Andrew Nembhard was the best with 14 points and nine assists, which is the most in the game.
Houston Rockets led by Kevin Durant, won 122-115 away from home Milwaukee Bucks. Durant had 31 points and seven assists for the Rockets, who were able to overcome a 14-point deficit to beat Milwaukee at home. Alperen Sengun added 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, while Jabari Smith had 16 points and nine rebounds. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 37 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but missed four free throws in the final 90 seconds. Ryan Rollins added 19 points.
Boston Celtics won 111-107 away from home Orlando Magic thanks to a three-pointer streak near the end of the fourth quarter. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 27 points, and he hit the first of his 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter with a minute and a half to go. After him, a three-pointer was scored by Derrick White, who finished the game with 21 points, and then Walsh scored the third consecutive three-pointer for Boston with 12 seconds left. The Magic’s leading scorers, Paulo Banchero and Franz Wagner, finished with 28 and 20 points, respectively, but combined to shoot just 1-of-9 from long range. Jalen Suggs added 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Orlando.
Oklahoma City Thunder were better than away with 114-100 Memphis Grizzliesand they managed to make up for the deficit of 19 points from the first half. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points, 22 of which came in the second half. He added seven rebounds and six assists as the Thunder picked up their 10th straight regular season victory over the Grizzlies. Chet Holmgren and Ajay Mitchell each scored 21 points for Oklahoma City, and Isaiah Hartenstein contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds. Memphis was led by Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 17 points with seven rebounds.
