The announcement of the third chess championship “Koprivci-Karadaglija Open” provoked sharp reactions and mutual charges between the members of the chess section and the local community council (MZ) Karadaglija. While the organizers claim that their tournament maintenance has been prevented and that the inventory of the section was removed from the premises, the Council of the MoUM decisively denies.
Members of the Chess Section state that preparations for the competition in which 17 participants were initiated, with the support of the Chess Association of FBiH and the announcement that the championship could be included in international rankings. However, they argue that they encountered obstacles: changed locks on the premises of the local community, the inventory was removed about 2,500 KM, and that they are alleged, prevented from continuing to continue their activities. They add that they informed the police station about everything.
On the other hand, from the Council of MZ Karadaglija, they reject these claims. In response to our editorial office, they emphasize that the premises of the local community represent the public well of all locals, and that they can be used exclusively on the basis of a timely and official request. They point out that such a request for the third championship has not yet been received, which is why the Council could not even consider or approve the maintenance of the tournament.
They also demand allegations about “ban”, “obstruction” and “confiscation of inventory”. As they say, the lock on the facility was changed exclusively due to the technical failure, while all inventory is recorded and kept in accordance with the rules. They believe that the presentation of incorrect information violates the reputation and creates unnecessary divisions between locals.
The Council of MZ Karadaglija calls the organizers, but also other citizens, that all activities are planning through transparent procedure, while chessists express regret that their manifestation is, interrupted at the time they needed a broader sports affirmation.
