According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these are the first sanctions of Japan against Russia since January, the Kyodo is transmitted.
“We have made this decision because the Russian invasion of Ukraine is still going on,” said the spokesman of the Jošimas Hajaši at the Jošimas Government at the press conference.
The government said the freezing of property applies to 47 groups and nine individuals in Russia, as well as to one group and five individuals in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, which are considered to be involved in the destabilization of Ukraine.
The property freezing also applies to three groups in other locations.
Japan also introduced an export ban for 11 groups, including those based in Russia, China and Turkey.
