The incident happened after Saturday’s Championship match, in which Hull defeated Birmingham 3:2 away from home and ended their 29-match home streak without defeat.
After the final whistle, there was a verbal conflict and crowd between both staffs, and Jakirović refused to shake the hand of home coach Chris Davies.

In a statement to the media, Jakirović said that Davies cursed him during the match when he asked about entering the technical area (‘F**k you’), and that a security guard then told him to “go back to Croatia”.
“I was in my space the whole time, they came to us. Davies told me to fuck off, and the security guard told me to go back to Croatia. It’s disrespectful to me, that’s why I didn’t want to shake hands. I work honestly in this country and I would never say something like that to anyone,” Jakirović said, adding that the situation was “a disaster, but he wouldn’t report it officially.”
Birmingham manager Chris Davies denied all the allegations, saying he had heard nothing of the sort:
“It was a crowd like every game, nothing out of the ordinary. He decided not to put his hand out, which has never happened to me. That speaks for itself,” said Davies.
Birmingham City reacted to everything with an official statement:
“Birmingham City is aware of a serious allegation made by Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic against a member of our security. Following an internal investigation the club firmly rejects the allegations. We are disappointed that the allegations were made publicly at a press conference. We will not be making any further statements about the matter.”
British journalist Baz Cooper (Hull Daily Mail) stated that he spoke with Hull City player Regan Slater, who confirmed that he heard Davies swearing at Jakirovic, but Hull do not plan to file an official complaint at this time.
The match was otherwise very stormy – there were several physical and verbal conflicts on the benches, several controversial refereeing decisions and numerous cards. In the end, Hull won 3:2 and jumped to the 10th place in the table, while Birmingham fell to the 17th position.
