After today’s meeting in the Government of FBiH, the president of the association of oil derivatives traders of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the owner of the company Hifa Oil, Izudin Ahmetlić, reflected on the situation with fuel prices and talked about how that price is actually formed on the market.
Ahmetlić, as the owner of a company that represents one of the largest fuel distributors, pointed out that the problems that BiH is currently having are also faced by countries all over the world.
“What we are currently experiencing is the sharing of all difficulties and problems related to the supply of oil with all the countries of the world. We must reduce these problems to the minimum possible for our citizens and the economy. As incredible as it may seem, we must say that we have responded to the task and that FBiH has not run out of oil even though we do not have a refinery and we did not receive sufficient quantities of petroleum products from neighboring countries, our primary suppliers,” he said.
He also explained what the biggest problem is when it comes to the distribution of oil towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It is our misfortune that at this moment in Croatia the overhaul of the Rijeka refinery, which is primarily focused on the supply of BiH, is underway. We managed to intervene from the terminal’s reserves and we shipped serious quantities of oil derivatives. Colleagues from other companies made additional efforts and we can say that we have drawn the line and concluded that there is no room for panic. However complex the situation is, we estimate that it cannot be at this level of complexity in the future,” he emphasized.
He then explained how fuel prices are formed on the BiH market
“At this moment, an hour ago, the price of Eurodiesel oil derivatives is 2.57 euros in Switzerland, 2.20 euros in Germany, 2.10 euros in Italy. The question is why the price has gone up with them, and they have refineries and terminals. It is obvious that the energy market is reacting immediately. We get prices in the FBiH from those who purchase oil products in the port of Ploče. Believe me, they don’t know what prices they will get for tomorrow. The formation of the price does not depend from our people and gas stations. No one can influence that. It is up to us to adapt. Oil is a terrible commodity and does not like these kinds of events in the world,” concluded Izudin.
