European karate champion Ivan Kvesić was declared the best athlete of the City of Zagreb for 2025, which is the second time in his career that he has received this title, after he was awarded for the first time in 2018.
I am really overjoyed to be the winner of the prestigious award of the City of Zagreb and I hope that it will be for me additional tailwind for the coming seasons, said Kvesic.
In the women’s competition, she won the title of best athlete for the first time in her career Zrinka Ljutić, winner of the Small Crystal Globe in slalom.
They were declared the best women’s team Mladost volleyball players, while the title of the best men’s team went to her Handball club Zagreb. The most successful sports pair, crew or relay was declared to be the quadruple without a coxswain Martin and Valent Sinković you Anton and Patrik Lončarić.
Kvesić has had an extremely successful year behind him. He won in Armenia his first European championship titlewhile at the World Championship in Cairo he won bronze medalwith which, in addition to the gold from 2018, he added another award to his world collection.
He has in his career a total of nine medals from the European championshipsof which four are individual. He is the winner of the European Games in 2019, this year he won silver at the World Games in China, and he also won bronze at the Mediterranean Games in Algeria. Also, he is the only Croatian karate Olympian who performed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
