Ivan Jurić is no longer the coach of Atalanta. As announced in the Italian media, the Croatian coach was fired after losing 3:0 at home to Sassuolo in the 11th round of Serie A.
Atalanta BC announces that today it has relieved Ivan Jurić of his duties as head coach of the first team, together with his staff, which consists of Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Paolo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojić and Michele Orecchio. The club thanks Ivan Jurić and his entire staff for their dedicated work and wishes them all the best in the future, it says in a short official announcement.
Only two wins in Serie A
The defeat against Sassuolo was Atalanti’s second this season in the Italian championship, but at the same time, Jurić’s team achieved everything two wins with as many as seven drawswhich reduced its effect to weak 13 points from 11 rounds. They fared somewhat better in the Champions League, where they won seven points in four rounds.
Jurić came to Atalanta ahead of this season as a replacement for Gian Piero Gasperiniwho spent nine years at the club from Bergamo. Jurić was known as Gasperini’s student and favorite, considering that he was his coach for seven years, first in Crotone and then in Genoa.
The third job he is leaving very soon
This is already the third job that Jurić stayed at for a very short time. Exactly one year ago, on November 10, 2024, he was replaced at Roma after less than two months. He then took over Southampton in December, from which he left at the beginning of April after the club was relegated from the Premier League earlier than any other team in history.
