The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SSSBiH) for June 2026 amounts to a record 3,290.07 KM.
Union research again shows a huge gap between the cost of living and the income of workers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Namely, according to the latest data from the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the average salary paid in FBiH for April 2026 was 1,706.00 KM. This means that the average salary covers only 51.86% of the union consumer basket.
In an even more difficult situation are workers who receive the minimum wage, which according to the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is 1,027.00 KM. The minimum wage covers only 31.22% of the living expenses of a four-member family, that is, it is not enough for even a third of the basket.
What makes up the shopping basket?
When preparing this budget, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina took into account the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children (one in high school and the other in elementary school).
Almost half of the total money the family needs exclusively for food.

The trade union explained that in the “food” category, prices from three shopping centers for 86 items were used for this analysis. When it comes to hygiene and “maintenance of health”, expenses for 10 items were counted, and for “housing and communal services” expenses for six items, it says Bosnia Info.
