Israel’s security cabinet on Friday approved the Gaza ceasefire and hostage agreement announced Wednesday in Qatar, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.
The 11 voting members of the security cabinet approved the agreement by a simple majority.
The full 33-member Israeli cabinet has yet to approve the deal.
That meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Earlier it was announced that the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza should begin on Sunday.
