Israel will invite 50,000 reservists ahead of the planned offensive to take the city of Gaza, but most of the forces in the largest urban center of Gaza would be active soldiers, the Israeli military official said.
The call notifications could be sent in the coming days, and the reservists should report to duty in September, a military official said.
Most soldiers who will be mobilized in this new phase will be active soldiers, not reservists – the official who spoke to reporters asking to remain anonymous.
The reservists who will be invited could be in aviation, intelligence or auxiliary roles or replace active soldiers stationed outside Gaza, the official said Reuters.
